Alignment with the Agriculture, Food Safety and Veterinary Acquis in Serbia

The overall objective is to improve the capacity of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection to manage the process of EU integration in the agriculture and food sector, covering Chapter 11 (Agriculture and Rural Development) and Chapter 12 (Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Policy). EPM provided the food safety, veterinary and phytosanitary key expert and seven short-term experts.

Components

• Alignment of Serbian agriculture and rural development with the Common Agricultural Policy (Chapter 11)
• Alignment of food safety, veterinary and phytosanitary policy (Chapter 12)

Activities

• Analysis of the Farm Accountancy Data Network and preparation of technical documents for the Chapter 12 accession negotiations
• Support to the harmonisation of legislation in food safety, veterinary and phytosanitary areas, and detailed gap analyses for the revised action plans
• Drafting of legislation for direct payments, rural development and state aid
• Organisation of 45 capacity-building events, training programmes, study tours and on-the-job training
• Design of communication strategies and awareness campaigns, project website, national and regional conferences
